Build Big Legs with Squats

The fastest way to build big legs is with squats. If you are not afraid of a bit of hard work you will definitely build big legs with squats a lot faster than you ever could with leg extensions or just about any other leg exercise. Doing squats each week or at least twice a month is probably the most effective way to build massive legs without having to do an enormous amount of sets for the leg muscles. The legs are big and powerful muscles and they need a lot of stimulation to grow so squatting is the king of all exercises in any leg training program.

Over the years I have been involved in bodybuilding and working as a personal trainer one of the most common things people ask me about is how to get big legs. The first thing I always tell them is you have to train your legs if you want them to grow. That might sound pretty obvious but so many people neglect their legs since effective leg training for growth is just so much hard work and hard work is what most people try their hardest to avoid. I wish I could say there is an easy way in regards how to grow big legs but there is no easy way out. Even when I am training a client who is paying me to help them grow bigger and stronger more often than when training any other body part the client cry for mercy and complain they just can’t do another set for legs or they are going to be sick or they are on the verge of collapsing. Some clients I can see from how hard they train that they really are on the verge of a meltdown and I am happy that they put in the hard work but many clients simply get lazy and want to stop well before they should. It’s the people who put in the hard work and perform the hardcore exercises like squats that reap the greatest rewards from training, by attaining a quality physique and a sense of accomplishment and empowerment after a heavy leg workout or any other hard training session.

So if you want to know how to build big legs the answer is do squats and go heavy. Heavy squatting means using a weight that is heavy for you but not too heavy. If you are looking to build big legs you should do about 3 sets of squats for about 8-10 reps per set. Effective squatting and the answer to how to get big legs is by doing each set till absolute failure. You should perform each squatting set till the failure point meaning that on your last rep of the set you can only barely finish the rep without collapsing. Do your squat sets in the power rack where it is safe so if you can’t finish one of your final reps and you did collapse you would be perfectly safe although you know intuitively when you have gotten to your final rep and can’t do anymore. If you know you cannot possibly complete one more rep than don’t go for it, it just isn’t necessary.

You will build big legs with squats and you will do it in the shortest possible time than you would by trying to use fancy leg machines. Building legs is definitely hard work but if it wasn’t you wouldn’t appreciate all the hard work you put into your physique if it was easy and whatever comes easy never comes with the same reward as what you have to work hard to achieve.
