Turn Fat Into Muscle
Can you turn fat into muscle? The answer to this question is a definitive no when considering it from a physiological standpoint. Fat and muscle are made up of two different materials and this is basically why you cannot turn fat into muscle. However, don’t despair because you can do something to your body which would seem on the outside like you have turned fat into muscle.
The best way to change your body so it looks like you have turned fat into muscle is to look closely at your diet. If you are carrying too much bodyfat it simply means you are eating more food, which we will call energy, than your body is currently using. All that extra energy is being stored on your body as fat but remember what Albert Einstein said about energy, energy cannot be created or destroyed but it can be transmuted into other forms of energy.
What I am saying is, you may not be able to turn fat into muscle in real terms but you can do the next best thing, safely and without drugs. Firstly you need to cut back on the sugar you eat. When I say sugar I mean all the foods that convert to sugar after you have eaten them. Most carbohydrates like rice, bread, potatoes, pasta, fruit, fruit juices and all sweets will convert to sugar once inside your body. Eating sugar leads to storage of body fat even more so than eating foods containing fat. A little bit of fat like the fat in meats is actually good for you body and won’t cause you to store much body fat unless you overeat too much fatty foods. It’s usually the excess carbs that cause someone to get fat.
Ok, so we can’t turn fat into muscle, that is just an old myth but we can cut back on the carbs that do become fat in our body. I am not saying this is easy to do if you have a healthy appetite for too many carbs or a sweet tooth but let’s face it, what choice do you have. You don’t want to remain overweight, you want to get into good shape and stay that way.
Check out the following article, Why Diets Don’t Work for a better understanding of how you body processes food. It would be impossible for me to write a specific diet in this article that will work for everyone to lose fat since we are all different shapes and sizes. Some people might be overeating on 1,500 calories per day, yet others might be literally starving to death on 3,000 calories per day so instead I will just give a basic guide on how to go about losing some fat without disrupting your entire life.
You can’t turn fat into muscle but you can dramatically change your appearance and body shape by following this eating plan. We will try a process of elimination to get your body looking the way you want it without following a diet. Start by eating the same size servings of protein you normally eat like beef, chicken, fish, eggs, skim milk (never drink full cream milk) with your regular meals but cut the carbs like rice, pasta, bread, potatoes and sweets in half for every meal. Also start incorporating a 1 hour walk into your daily schedule. If you don’t like to walk, choose another form of exercise that gets your body moving and your heart pumping. If you can’t exercise for 1 hour every day, make up the hour on another day but you need to exercise 7 times per week. Once per day gets your body into a pattern that is conducive to burning fat.
You really don’t need to do any other exercise to lose fat but of course if you do want to exercise more, go for it, the more the better. Although don’t do what a lot of my personal training clients do, especially the overweight ones and that is, have a great workout and then feel you have earned the right to eat some extra carbs or sugar. If you do this you are only wasting your own time and you will end up more frustrated than before you began. It takes some will power but you can do it. I have seen remarkable results in a relatively short period of a few months where people with commitment have lost a lot of bodyfat and dramatically changed their body shape.
If after you cut your carbs in half, you are still not losing at least 1 pound per week, you need to cut them in half again. If you do eat a diet high in fat or fried foods I don’t need to tell you that you need to limit your intake of fat since this will not help you to lose weight either.
If you go through the process I have explained bit by bit instead of making a drastic change it will be much easier to cope with. Making a gradual change in your eating habits means there is less chance you will quit your new eating plan and go back to your old ways. Nobody can do it for you but you can certainly do this for yourself and not only will you be rewarded with a trimmer new body but psychologically you will be so proud of yourself and you should be.
